"LIFE OF VICTORY"
LESSON 6
A BEATEN ENEMY UNDER YOUR FOOT
By: Hans Hofman
Dear friend,
I hope that in preparation tor this lesson, YOU have read the passages in the Bible
mentioned at the end of lesson 5. You read in those parts of Genesis and Psalms
about various circumstances in which ordinary people like you and I can live. Psalm 1
speaks about the 'righteous' and the 'unrighteous' man. The man walking with God in
purity and sincerity and the man following his own flesh, thereby despising God.
In the previous lessons I spoke about the 'heart' AII actions and words originate from
the "heart In Genesis 31 we can read about Jacob. In verse 31 he says: 'I was afraid,
because I thought................. '. And in the verses 7 and 8 of chapter 32 we read 'in
great fear and distress Jacob divided the people who, were with him into two groups,
and the flocks and herds and camels as well. He thought, it........................... The reason
of these thoughts dated back as far as 20 years ago, when he cheated his brother and
his tather (Gen. 27, compare 1 John 4: 18). For 20 years, he had reaped the bitter
fruits when he stayed with his unrighteous uncle Laban. Jacob took his GUIL Tand
FEAR with him when he FLED to his uncle into that distant country, because they
where IN his HEART. Jacob had to learn righteousness and OBEDIENCE to God.
In Genesis 31:31, Jacob says: I was afraid, because I THOUGHTyou would take my
daughters trom me by force.. Still in the PRISON OF FEAR of being robbed himself,
he FLED.
God thought those 20 years to be sufficient for Jacob to shape him.
But then he became the VICTIM of someone else's sin: The sin of his wife, Laban's
daughter. This conflict was not the result of his own thoughts (heart) (31:19).
In the verses 36-42 we therefore see Jacob in quite another state ot mind. Here he is
USING authority and powerful language, because he was RIGHTEOUS in this
matter. God knows the way of the righteous, for He sees the 'heart". Righteouness
is PERFECT LOVE; God IS love. So if you clothe yourself with God's thoughts,
God's armour in your heart, then the fruits of righteousness, love., faithfulness and
VICTORY WILL BE PRODUCED.
In this lesson, I want to share with you a number of very important scriptures that will
give you complete Victory in the power of Jesus Christ, God's Son. Take a moment
for prayer now and open up your heart wide for the working of God's Holy Spirit.
Be prepared to allow God to do a COMPLETE work in your life. He WILL Iet you
experience COMPLETE VICTORY in ALL your circumstançes and over every
temptation.
The Spirit, the 'heart' of man, where all activities
are developed via thoughts and meditations.
They are for a great part determined by that
which man submits to (to God or to man)
The heart is influenced by our senses.
Eyes, ears, feeling etc.
The mind-spirit is the heart of man not
the bloodpump
Questions:
1. In order to achieve a quick and COMPLETE VICTORY over every circumstance,
it is necessary tor you to have a clear picture of your position in Christ.
WHO saved you? Colossians 1:13 ..................................................................
2. WHAT were you saved from? 1:13 ...................................................................

.....................................................................................................................
4. So Christ has redeemed us from the power of Satan, and brought us OUT of
Satan's kingdom INTO God's Kingdom. This means that you have been
redeemed from prison of fear of the punishment following sin (death) and
transferred to the freedom of God's Kingdom. You have received a NEW life
through Jesus Christ. HlS LlFE came to dwell in you through HlS Spirit.
WHATdid you receive according to Romans 8:6? ............................................
5. You received more! WHATshould we NOT give up, according to Hebrews 10:35?
....................................................................................................................
6. WHATmore do you have to HOLD ON TO? (PhilI. 2:16) ....................................
7. FOR WHAT PURPOSE? ...............................................................................

10. WHATshould we NOT take part in (Eph. 5:11)? ...............................................
11. What SHOULD you do with these things?
.....................................................................................................................
12. "Exposing" means bringing into the open through the light of God's Word.
Jesus said: "I am the light of the world. With His Spirit, the same Jesus lives in
you as a BORNAGAIN Christian. What attitude to life should we have in order to
be able to expose the darkness and put it into the Light of Jesus?
Ephesians 4:20 .............................................................................................
13. My old self is crucified with Christ, and yet I live, that is, no longer I myself, BUT
CHRIST LIVING IN ME. And as far as I am still living in the flesh, I am living BY
FAITH IN THE SON OF GOD who loved me and gave Himself to me.
WHO is that life IN you, according to this text? Gal. 2:20 ..................................
14. WHAT must you PUT ON so as to be able to resist the temptations of the devil?
Ephesians 6:11 (also read 6:11-18) .................................................................
15. After studying the Bible texts mentioned, YOU KNOW WHAT YOUR POSITION
IN CHRIST IS. In Christ, you received EVERYTHING you need for a victorious
life as a child of God. Paul pictures you as a soldier of Christ. Since you belong
to Christ, God's enemy and yours is doing EVERYTHING possible to mislead you
and, if possible, to destroy you spiritually and physically.
He manifest himself through your circumstances. Many Christians then begin to
blame other brothers and sisters. When these brothers or sisters are living in the
flesh, they are also, of course, responsible for the circumstances resulting from this.
Yet history has taught that fighting each other offers little or NO solution.
(for the last two thousand years). Any solution that it did bring were only temporary.
The ROOT of all problems does not lie in the visible world, but in the spiritual What
should you NOT fight against? ............................................................................
16. WHAT should you fight? 6:12 ...........................................................................
17. So WHERE IS the battle-field? 6:12 ..................................................................
18. What are our weapons NOT? 2 Cor. 10:4 ...........................................................
19. Our weapons are ........................................... through God for the breaking
down of stronholds. 2.cor. 10:4
20. Now read carefully. 'so that we demolish every argument and every stronghold
set up againsl the KNOWLEDGE of God and lead every thought away captive into
the OBEDIENCE OF CHRIST, being READY T0 punish every DISOBEDIENCE, when
your own OBEDIENCE is COMPLETE. 2 Cor. 10:5 In this text, God's Word shows
very clearly where the struggle takes place.
In fact, it does via the senses. Through your eyes, ears, feeling, smelI. Satan
tries to penetrate your emotions, your WILL, your THOUGHTS, and your MIND
and STEAL God's Word from there.
The Word that you have kept in your heart contains POWER through the working
ot the Holy Spirit, as long as you are in the will of God. Satan knows that if he can
rob God's Word by bringing CONFUSION, spiritual LAZINESS, UNBELIEF (doubt)
or by making God's promises for you powerless by enticing you to sin, you are no
longer under God's protection (no longer fullfilling the conditions for these promises).
Satan is a thief, a murderer and a liar, and has only one purpose: exalting himself
above God Almighty. He can only do this if you turn your eyes away from Jesus
and start looking at the circumstances.
But: you can trample this brutal, DEFEATED enemy under your feet by BINDING
EVERY reasoning, EVERY thought coming up in yourself against the knowledge
ot God (His Word) in the Name of Jesus Christ, and placing these thoughts
UNDER the authority of JESUS. You have received this authority in your prayer
life for every circumstance. Just say, for in stance, that you are being cheated
(or are thinking of doing this yourself). In that case, USE your authority and say:
I bind this Iying spirit in ................... (this or that person), in the Name ot Jesus
(Matthew 18:8). Can you see? You received this authority from God to USE it,
so USE it (the same goes for sickness, infirmity, etc., etc.)! What did Jesus do
OPENLY with our enemies? Col 2: 15 ...........................................................
......................................................................................................................
21. If you hold on to God's Word, the Bible, and USE the authority that God has
given you IN CHRIST to resist the working of Satan, WHO will God soon
TRAMPLE UNDER YOUR FEET through this OBEDIENCE !?
Romans 16:19-20 ......................................................

Literature is a simple evangelism tooI. Faith comes by hearing and reading God's
word. Literature is not a "just-once" thing like a sermon, for instance.
It can be read and re-read. Additionally by giving a tract to someone you can pass
on the gospel and make a new disciple tor Jesus. Very often a tract has been the
first contact with the gospel which has led to souls being saved.
